The day began early, with my guide and driver picking me up from the hotel around 6:30 AM. After a short transfer to the meeting point, I received a quick tour briefing and bike fitting before starting the ride. Once everything was set, we began cycling out of the city and into the quiet countryside, heading towards Banteay Srei Temple.
The route led us through Preah Dak Village — a peaceful, rural community surrounded by rice fields and palm trees. Along the way, we stopped several times to meet local villagers who were working in the paddies and making traditional palm sugar. Moments like these always give me a deeper connection to the Cambodian countryside lifestyle — simple, warm, and very alive.

When we arrived at Banteay Srei, I was immediately impressed by its intricate red sandstone carvings. Although smaller than Angkor Wat or Ta Prohm, this temple is known for its detailed sculpture work and elegant architecture, sitting right on the edge of the jungle. Exploring the site here felt like stepping into a story carved century by century by Khmer artisans.

After our visit, we continued cycling to the base of Kbal Spean Mountain where we enjoyed lunch. In the afternoon, we switched from cycling to hiking — trekking up to the top of Phnom Kbal Spean. The trail led us through lush jungle until we reached the riverbed where the famous “1000 Lingas” carvings lie beneath flowing water. Seeing the ancient carvings submerged under natural waterfalls was incredibly unique — a spiritual and historical experience combined with nature.
