Emb on an incredible biking adventure from Southern Laos to the majestic Angkor Wat! Our journey begins in Pakse, where we’ll pedal alongside the Mekong River, soaking in the breathtaking scenery as we ride downstream into Cambodia. Along the way, discover the stunning waterfalls of Laos and immerse yourself in the rich local lifestyles of both Laos and Cambodia.

We’ll explore the hidden gems of Koh Ker and Preah Vihear temples, delving into the fascinating history and artistry of the Khmer Empire. Gain a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s past by learning about the Khmer Rouge and the Civil War, enriching your appreciation for the resilience of the Cambodian people. Finally, we’ll crown our adventure with a visit to the world-renowned Angkor Wat, a marvel of ancient architecture, and enjoy kayaking on the expansive Tonle Sap Lake, the largest in Southeast Asia. This journey promises to be an unforgettable experience filled with culture, nature, and the spirit of adventure!

Full Itinerary

Welcome Southern Laos, a region known for its stunning landscapes and laid-back atmosphere. Pakse, the capital of Champasak Province, invites visitors with its colonial architecture and serves as a gateway to the Bolaven Plateau. The 4000 Islands (Si Phan Don) is an archipelago in the Mekong River, popular for its tranquility, diverse wildlife, and opportunities for relaxation and adventure, including biking and dolphin watching. Explore the beauty and charm of this enchanting region!

Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by our local guide, who will assist you in transferring to your hotel for check-in (please note that early check-in is not included and is subject to the hotel's availability). You will have the rest of the day to relax and explore at your leisure. In the late afternoon, our guide will accompany you to a local restaurant for a welcome dinner, where you can enjoy traditional Laos cuisine and begin your journey with a taste of local flavors.

We'll Pakse and start our biking journey to the Bolaven Plateau. After about 19 kilometers, we'll stop at a small village famous for its knife-making and blacksmithing, where visitors can observe traditional handcrafting techniques. Next, we'll bike to Tadfan Waterfall, concluding our ride before visiting nearby coffee plantations by van. Here, we'll learn about tea and coffee cultivation, processing, and their importance as cash crops. Finally, we'll explore the beautiful surroundings of Tad Yuang Waterfall before transferring to Champasak.

From Champasak, we continue biking south to Sukuma town, cycling through small village roads where residents live along the Mekong River. We'll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before crossing the river by ferry to Ban Nongbue village. Afterward, we'll continue biking to our pick-up point for a transfer to Don Khong, the largest of the well-known 4000 Islands of the Mekong. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax at our hotel.

Today is dedicated to discovering and exploring nature in this tranquil setting, one of the highlights of the trip. We’ll bike through the 4000 Islands, hopping on small ferries for short distances between islands. Our journey takes us through the peaceful, lesser-known islands of Don Sangfai, Don Phimarn, and Don Lompadee, before boarding a long-tail boat to Don Det. We'll cycle through Don Det along the old railway line and across the stunning French Railway Bridge to Don Khone. In the late afternoon, we'll ride around Don Khone to see Liphi Waterfall, the widest fall on the Mekong River in southern Laos.

We start our day in the morning by taking a boat to Nakasang, then head south to the fascinating Khon Phapheng Waterfalls, known as the Niagara of the East and the largest in Southeast Asia. These spectacular falls divide the Mekong River, creating a magnificent sight near the Cambodian border. From there, we’ll continue cycling to the Cambodian border, where we'll bid farewell to our Laos team and greet the Cambodian biking team. After about 45 minutes to cross the border, we'll ride along the Mekong River and take a boat upstream with our bikes, enjoying the beautiful sights of Northern Mekong in Cambodia, including water birds, fishing activities, and the flooded forest's natural beauty. Upon arriving at the Preah Romkell Community, we’ll have a welcome lunch and interact with community leaders to learn about local cultures. Afterward, we’ll ride to visit Pheak Mitt Waterfall, one of the top ten largest waterfalls in the world. Finally, we’ll continue our ride until we reach our destination, hop on the support vehicle, and transfer to our hotel in Preah Vehear City for the night.

Early 6 AM, we start biking from the hotel to enjoy the pleasant weather and fewer people on the roads. After 9-10 kilometers, we’ll stop for breakfast and coffee at Phnom Tbeng Resort. Then we’ll continue our ride to the Koh Ker Temples, making stops along the way to visit a local market and a school to learn about the education system in Cambodia, as well as a pagoda to understand more about Buddhism. Upon arriving at the Koh Ker Temples, we’ll enjoy lunch. Koh Ker City, once the capital of the Khmer Empire in the 10th century, is known for its impressive temple complex set amidst lush forests.

The site features the stunning Prasat Thkoal, a five-tiered pyramid, and numerous other temples that reflect the architectural elegance of the period. This ancient city offers a glimpse into Cambodia’s rich history, showcasing intricate carvings and unique structures that tell the story of its past and the grandeur of the Khmer civilization. Exploring Koh Ker is a chance to connect with the cultural heritage and natural beauty of Cambodia. Transfer by our support vehicle to Sraem for dinner and overnight

After at the hotel, we’ll ride our bikes from the hotel to Preah Vihear Temple, located 30 kilometers to the north. Along the way, we’ll stop to visit a local market in Sraem and the Preah Vihear Museum to learn more about the region's history and culture. Upon arrival at the checkpoint, we’ll take a 4WD vehicle to ascend Preah Vihear Mountain, which shares a border with Thailand. Once at the top, we’ll spend about an hour exploring Preah Vihear Temple. Preah Vihear Temple is an astonishing architectural marvel built during the Khmer Empire in the first half of the 10th century.

UNESCO designated it a World Heritage site in 2008 for its stunning artistry and intricate stone carvings that depict Hindu deities and symbols. The temple is uniquely situated on a 625-meter cliff, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding plains and forested landscapes. Its long axis stretches nearly 800 meters, with a series of sanctuaries connected by a system of pavements, showcasing the sophistication of Khmer architecture and the cultural significance of Hinduism in Cambodia. The temple’s unique location and design make it a remarkable place to explore and understand the historical and spiritual heritage of the Khmer civilization.

We'll by 4WD down the hill to the checkpoint for lunch. After enjoying our meal, we’ll transfer by support vehicle to Siem Reap. On the way, we’ll stop to visit Ta Mok’s house, which served as a base for the Khmer Rouge during the 1990s. Here, we'll learn about the history and impact of the Khmer Rouge regime and the Civil War in Cambodia, gaining insights into this significant period in the country’s past. After our visit, we’ll proceed to our hotel in Siem Reap. In the evening, we'll have dinner at a local restaurant, where we can savor traditional Cambodian cuisine and reflect on our day’s experiences.

We start at 5:30 AM, biking with headlights for a 7 km ride to the parking area. Then, we’ll walk to the main entrance and settle near one of the temple’s libraries to watch the sunrise behind the iconic towers. This breathtaking moment unfolds gradually as the sky brightens, creating an unforgettable backdrop. After capturing photos with our guide, we’ll enjoy a picnic breakfast at the temple site.

Following breakfast, our knowledgeable guide will provide insights into the history and symbolism of Angkor Wat as we explore its intricate architecture, including a visit to the temple's upper level for panoramic views. Next, we’ll bike along the walls of Angkor Thom City to the Bayon Temple, famous for its enigmatic stone faces that reflect the compassion of the Avalokiteshvara, a key figure in Mahayana Buddhism. The temple's intricate bas-reliefs depict scenes from daily life and historical events, showcasing the artistry of the Khmer Empire.

Continuing our journey, we’ll ride to Neak Pean, an 12th-century temple built on an artificial island, featuring a central pond surrounded by four smaller ponds. It is believed to symbolize the four elements: earth, water, fire, and wind, illustrating the Khmer ideal of balance and harmony in nature. In the afternoon, we’ll visit Ta Prohm Temple, renowned for the massive trees that intertwine with the ruins, creating an enchanting atmosphere. The temple was intentionally left largely in its natural state to showcase the power of nature reclaiming the ancient structure, making it a favorite for photography. After exploring these magnificent sites, we’ll bike back to the hotel, finishing around 4 PM. You can then relax by the pool or explore the Old Market and Pub Street, bustling with shops, restaurants, and massage parlors.

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, our friendly tour guide will be ready to lead you on another thrilling day of discovery. We’ll kick off our biking adventure by riding to West Baray Village, where you’ll witness local artisans crafting Kralan, a traditional sticky rice dish cooked in bamboo. Next, we’ll visit the stunning West Baray, an ancient manmade lake from the 11th century, covering an impressive area of 8km by 2.8km, serving as a vital reservoir for today’s agriculture.

Our journey continues to Angkor Silk Farm, where you’ll learn about the fascinating process of silk production from farming to the final product. En route to Krobei Riel Village, we’ll stop at a lively Pork Market, sampling grilled chicken, deep-fried crickets, and grasshoppers. We’ll also visit local artisans smoking fish before arriving at a welcoming stilt house. Here, a local family will guide you through their vegetable garden and teach you to cook three traditional Cambodian dishes during an enjoyable cooking class. After lunch, we’ll cycle to Tonle Sap Lake for a tranquil boat ride through the floating village, learning about the unique lifestyle of its inhabitants. Following this, we’ll kayak through the serene mangrove forest, spotting birds and relishing the peaceful atmosphere before reaching the open lake.

We’ll wrap up our enriching day by returning to Siem Reap in the late afternoon, filled with cultural insights and unforgettable experiences!
